Philharmonic is a part pub,
part country bar and part social club. It draws all sorts with its
friendly attitude and varied calendar of events and theme nights.
More
than one international group uses this bar in L’Eixample as an
unofficial clubhouse. Other expats are drawn by the international
sports shown on TV and activities like the Thursday night pub quiz.
There are other special nights too — every Tuesday night line dancers
take over the floor, while Mondays are dedicated to Swing dancing and
weekend nights are for live jazz concerts.

Can Gaig was
started in 1869 by the great grandmother of the present owner as a
travellers’ inn. Nowadays, its stylish appearance retains an old
hospitable atmosphere that is celebrated for the quality of its
market-fresh ingredients.
Cuisine is based on traditional
Catalán home cooking that the chef combines with modern, innovative
ideas. The menu includes specialities like roast partridge with Iberian
ham, as well as game and seafood dishes. Desserts are also superb.
Restaurant is opened all year, excluding August.

Razzmatazz is the mother of all Barcelona clubs and the first club I ever went to here. It is in fact 5 clubs in-one and your entrance fee covers all. Of all 5 rooms in the disco the one you walk into straight away is the largest, and all play wildly differing music which makes for a surreal experience wandering from a room playing trance into one playing punk. It also means that there is a rather a strange mix of people, but everyone is happy and the atmosphere is good.
The club attracts big names so have a look out for the posters on the street announcing who is playing in each room, or check out the website. Also, as it is a bit out of the way, it’s great that by the time you make it out of the club at closing time, the metro has started running again!

METROPOLITAN PARK OF COLLSEROLA
The Metropolitan park of Collserola preserves a good example of the Mediterranean forests of pine and oak trees. Spectacular fields of rockrose, heather and broom can also be found on the sunny slopes.
Two of the most interesting sights are the Hermitage of Sant Medir and the Natural Reserve of Font Groga.

Spanish Omelet - Tortilla Espanola
Spaniards love their food! In fact, the typical Spaniard probably puts away more food than any one of us in the USA. One of the most popular Spanish meal is Spanish Omelet - Tortilla Espanola. It is also called Tortilla de Patata or Potato Omelet. Bars and cafés serve it as a tapa or appetizer. Because it is easy to transport, the Spanish make bocadillos or sandwiches by placing a piece between two pieces of a baguette. There are lots of variations of tortillas or omelets. To make tortilla you need just about a half an hour.
Ingredients:
- 6-7 medium potatoes, peeled
- 1 whole yellow onion
- 5-6 large eggs
- 2-3 cups of olive oil for pan frying
- Salt to taste
Posible Variations
You can prepare possible variations using green pepper, chorizo or ham.

People staying in Barcelona, who can`t live without French cuisine, should visit Jaume de Provença.
Chef Jaume Bargués has developed a well-earned reputation for deliciously original variations on traditional Catalán cuisine blended with southern French cooking. This cosy little restaurant full of specific climate is a favourite of the King of Spain.
The menu features such dishes as sole stuffed with mushrooms, pigs' trotters with plums and truffles, or rabbit loins.:) An extensive wine list covers Spain, France and Catalonia. It`s closed on Monday.
